Ex-LSU QB Anthony Jennings to play for Louisiana-Lafayette
Anthony Jennings hasn’t transferred far from LSU.
Louisiana-Lafayette announced Thursday that Jennings has joined the team as a graduate transfer. He’ll be a senior in 2016.
“We are excited about Anthony joining our program and competing for the starting quarterback position this fall,” ULL coach Mark Hudspeth said in a statement. “He has been a starting quarterback in the SEC and he led his team to nine wins. Being a senior, he will bring a wealth of experience to the position.”
Jennings will likely be the favorite to start at quarterback for ULL, which had three quarterbacks throw over 40 passes in 2015 and leading passer Brooks Haack was a senior last season. The team’s leading returning passer is Jalen Nixon, who had 828 passing yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions in 2015 as a junior.

Jennings was LSU’s leading passer in 2014. he was 111-227 passing for 1,611 yards and 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He was granted his release from LSU in March and appeared in just two games in 2015 as Brandon Harris ascended to the starting role for LSU.
Harris won the starting job entering the season after Jennings was arrested in June along with two teammates. However, the three players were never charged with a crime.
